Green Room: Our pre-school rooms help our children get ready for their next journey to school! They will start in Green room between 2 and 1/2 and 3 years of age.

The room is carefully divided into areas of provision (play!) to encourage children’s concentration and focus. These include a creative studio where children have the freedom to create ‘junk’ models, explore malleable items, sand water and art materials, a little engineers area where they face the challenges of designing and building structures, a maths’ zone to develop and challenge their problem solving and active learning skills as well as ‘the Den’ promoting all things related to literacy and the joy of reading.

Themes are developed through following the children’s current interests and exciting activities are provided to challenge their natural ability and stretch their developing skills.

Children enjoy activities based on letter and number recognition and have access to resources and equipment which encourage early writing skills. Qualified, experienced staff support them in gaining the confidence that will give them the very best start as they prepare for ‘big school’.

Our over three rooms have a ratio of 1:8 and are lovely light, airy and exciting spaces for the children to explore.

Our learning intention plans follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and activities reflect upon children’s current interests.

The room is the ‘third’ teacher and helps to prepare our children for school and we hope to provide a secure foundation for later learning. Childhood is an important period in itself and we want all children to have an enjoyable and satisfying experience here at Cliffe House Day Nursery- providing a home from home for life-long learning.
